Dale and Thomas’ Share Some
Foundation Announces its First
Grant Recipient
Share Some Foundation
Recognizes Irene Lyons-Loeffler
As Top “Sharer” for September
2007.
Englewood NJ (October 24, 2007)
Dale and Thomas Popcorn and its
Share Some Foundation, a
non-profit organization whose
mission is to recognize and
promote the concept of sharing
by encouraging people to share
as much of themselves as
possible, is pleased to announce
that it has named The Pat Lyons
Foundation, founded by Irene
Lyons-Loeffler as its first
recipient of a monthly Share
Some Foundation grant. Each
month, the Share Some Foundation
looks for a special individual
who truly exemplifies sharing,
and donates $10,000 dollars in
their name to the charitable
organization that they share
with.
Irene Lyons-Loeffler will
receive $10,000 this Friday,
October 26, 2007, at the
Englewood, NJ headquarters of
Dale and Thomas Popcorn, because
of her commitment to help in the
long term care of children who
have had to overcome cancer.
After the immense tragedy of
losing her husband while
pregnant in the 9/11 attacks on
New York City, Mrs.
Lyons-Loeffler committed herself
to honoring her husband while at
the same time helping others.
That’s why in 2003, she began
the Pat Lyons charity golf
tournament to honor her husband,
Pat, and to raise money for a
long term post-effects study for
childhood cancer survivors. All
proceeds from the event are
donated to The Cancer Center for
Kids at Winthrop University
Hospital on Long Island, where
they have developed one of the
few programs in the entire
country for long term follow-up
care for childhood cancer
survivors.
In addition to running this
annual golf tournament, Irene
donates her time, home and
resources to the day to day
operations of this foundation,
as well as making sure that
every volunteer is fed and feels
appreciated.
“I feel so blessed to be the
recipient of this grant in my
name,” says Mrs. Lyons-Loeffler.
“After my husband perished on
9/11 I knew that I had to do
something in his memory and to
help others at the same time.
The work that The Cancer Center
for Kids does to help children
who have overcome cancer touched
me and I knew that I wanted to
support their work in any way I
could. I know that this $10,000
dollars will help them continue
their mission to providing the
best post-cancer care possible
for children”
The Share Some Foundation will
present the check to Irene
Lyons-Loeffler at 1pm on Friday
October 26, 2007.
